PAC Plans for the Future...

..
The Park Advisory Committee (PAC) has been thinking and planning about upcoming events as well as some updates we are looking into for Proctor Plaza.

Here are some ideas we have...let us know if you are interested in helping the PAC realize these ideas and activities.

Please suggest to us any ideas you may have for our park and activities you might think our neighborhood and community would enjoy.

POSSIBLE UPCOMING ACTIVITIES -

W
e have the ability to continue growing into a really amazing community, even more so than we are now. Can you imagine Live Music Nights at Proctor. Kind of like what we did for the Fall Festival with people and the security that was provided, while listening and dancing to really cool live music!

We would also like to ask the Parks and Recreation and corporate/local donors for a projector and screen for Movie Nights at the park. We could bring our blankets, popcorn, favorite soda pop and watch a fun movie together.

Also can you imagine running OR walking, for those of you who like to have a more "detailed" look at the scenery, together with your neighbors at Norhill's Friends of Proctor Plaza Neighborhood 5k Run/Walk. How fun to see all of our neighbors out there having a good time together. Can you imagine what this would do for our neighborhood? It would do so many great things. It would all have to be carefully planned and funded.

We are willing to make it happen....are you?

These activities are only possible if neighbors VOLUNTEER and donate monetarily. We can figure out how to get these things donated, but the community has to be involved and motivated to make it happen.

We are also looking to have donated: new landscaping for the park. Some pretty bushes, flowers and plants for those of you who like to walk yourselves and/or your dogs. Possibly turning the dirt in the baseball field...it's as solid as a rock almost.

We would love to have donated a couple of new playground pieces to the old repertoire for the kids.

Maybe some kiddie hoops under the plaza such as this one...

What would also be fun? HEB donated to Montie Park, the park across Main Street in the Brookesmith neighborhood, a small water playground for the kids. We have been a couple of times and it's really fun. There were people and kids enjoying themselves.

Wouldn't that be fun for the kids in this neighborhood? We could have that at Proctor. The city of Houston has several water playgrounds around the area.

Provided by the City of Houston website: "The Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s water playgrounds provide an engaging and interactive fun activity year-round for children, especially during the hot summer months. Water playgrounds have distinct advantages over swimming pools in that they are cost effective, low maintenance, and water-play activities extend well beyond normal pool season. Water playgrounds are controlled using a timer and touch-sensor. The timer is set for 12 hours of water activation, and the touch-sensor turns on the water for a two to three minute cycle."

Adult supervision recommended. No lifeguards are on duty.

Can you imagine how much safe, simple fun we could have in our little community.

Would you like to be a part of these exciting ideas?
...
Then please consider donating your time and resources to our neighborhoods future....

Do you have any suggestions or comments? Let us hear from you!

We are looking forward to being one of the best urban neighborhoods in the nation.

Spring Showers Bring May Flowers!

Cinco de Mayo

Well even though it poured all day today our Cinco De Mayo Celebration wasn't a total wash out!

We celebrated with musical games and cupcakes. We played musical chairs and enjoyed playing with our friends on a wet day.

Nia Move Experience

Wednesday we will have Nia Moves at the 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning Play Group.

It is fun when Nia Moves comes to the Park! The price to join in with Nia Moves is just $5 per family.

The rest of the park and center is free.

Have a great week! We hope your Spring allergies aren't bothering you too much!
