New Friends

Hi neighbors,

I don't know if any of you heard about the family in our neighborhood that lost their mother to cancer last year. They found out she had cancer and within 6 months or so she passed away.

They have a 16 year old boy who is really sweet. He has no physical limitations. You may have met Alex at the park. Mentally, he acts like he is a 5 year old boy. He's a really fun, kind boy.

Well we were wondering if maybe any of you neighbors ever have a couple of hours of free time on the weekends, maybe Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Who has time these days, huh?

But it would be nice to let the dad get a break from being with his son allllllll the time. He is a sweet dad. And loosing your wife and having to be in charge of a special needs child full-time all of a sudden has to be pretty tough right now.

He said it would be fun to go to Half-Price books for a little while on his own. Our family has offered to play with Alex for a couple of hours this month. It probably would be great for the dad to feel like he has friends in the neighborhood, too. He is a really nice man.

Would anyone else be willing to make a new friend(s) and help this family once in a while. It would be a special token of friendship.

E-mail friendsofproctorplaza@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping.

Thanks neighbors!!!!

Norhill Sponsors DePelchin Christmas Party
and DePelchin Families...

DePelchin has been serving children and families since 1892 with programs including adoption, foster care, counseling services, post-adoption, transitional living services, among many others programs.

The Norhill neighborhood, Friends of Proctor Plaza, and Proctor Plaza Association would like to sponsor at least 2 families from Depelchin this Christmas. We will also be throwing a small party for about 20 children from DePelchin at Proctor Park. The party will be a private DePelchin party.

If you are interested in donated some new toys or new clothes to these 2 families please contact Pam Foote at Proctor Plaza at 713-862-6907.

If you would like to drop off board games and toys the kids at DePelchin would enjoy...please feel free to do so with Mrs Pam.

Or if you would like to make a small donation for treats, etc. for their Christmas party please contact:

friendsofproctorplaza@yahoo.com

Thank you for your kindness always neighbors!
